CBTB is extremely grateful to all of our supporters and the following organizations for providing grant and foundation support this year:

  • The Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by the Brooklyn Arts Council, Inc. (BAC) for the Lost & Found dance concert.

  • 2009 JPMorgan Chase Regrant Program, administered by the Brooklyn Arts Council, Inc. (BAC) to hire Ms. Fran Kirmser, an arts consultant for organizational development.

  • Local Capacity Building Initiative, a regrant program of the Arts in Education Program of the New York State Council on the Arts, administered by BRIC Arts|Media|Bklyn and the Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC).

  • Independence Community Foundation for sponsorship of 25 students to attend the Orphan Train educational performance.

  • Max & Roberta Solomon Trust for operational support.


Student Program

  • Ongoing registration for our introductory classes including Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, Dance Fundamentals and Modern/Jazz 1.

  • Ballet registration only with placement auditions, call for more information on our lower, middle and upper divisions.

Summer Programs
Registration is now open for the 2009 Summer Programs at CBTB Dance Academy.

Summer Intensive:  July 6 - 31.  Students may take 1 to 4 weeks.  Monday through Friday, 9:00 to 4:00.  Program includes ballet, pointe, conditioning, modern, theatre jazz, hip-hop and acting.  Non-academy students must call for a placement audition.

Summer Beginnings:  August 10 - 14.  A one week program for the absolute beginner.  Monday through Friday, 10:00 - 3:00.  Program includes ballet, modern, composition and jazz.

Summer Saturdays:  July 11, 18, 25 & August 1.  Four Saturdays this summer with classes for our introductory level students as well as for parents.  Schedule includes classes for creative movement, pre-ballet & dance fundamentals, modern/jazz 1 and pilates/yoga fusion (for adults).

Summer Adults:   July 6 - August 13.  10 weeks of classes tailored for adults from beginners to intermediate/advanced.  Program includes classes for beginner ballet 1 & 2, intermediate/advanced ballet, beginner modern and beginner tap.

CBTB TV DEBUT
Did you know that Artistic Director Marla Hirokawa was interviewed by Dr. Gerald Deas, Director of Health Education at SUNY Downstate Medical Center for his weekly program on BCAT, Brooklyn Community Access Television, called Health Center? The television show is a forum for practical advice on all kinds of health issues. The interview, entitled Dance Therapy and interspersed with clips of company performances, was aired on March 27th.

BEST EVER
Did you know that DVD copies of the February 2009 concert, Lost and Found, are available for purchase? This DVD showcased some of the best CBTB company’s latest repertoire and the ever creative choreography of Marla Hirokawa.  In fact, all of the company's full programmed concerts are available for purchase.
